Stochastic Modeling of Renewable Energy Sources for Capacity Credit Evaluation

In power system planning, the growth of renewable energy generation leads to several challenges including reliability due its intermittency and uncertainty. To quantify relatively reliable capacity this generation, credit is usually adopted for long-term planning. This paper proposes an evaluation using stochastic models resource availability. Six types wind, solar PV, small hydro, biomass, biogas, waste were considered. The proposed are based on process Wiener other probability distribution functions explain randomness intermittency. Moreover, PV—the which depends two key random variables, namely irradiance temperature—a copula function used model their joint probabilistic behavior. These simulate outputs generations then determine defined as conventional that can maintain a similar level reliability. method tested with Thailand’s results show time day size installed considered generation.
